MURFREESBORO — After defeating Memphis School of Excellence and Martin Westview to win the Region tournament, the McKenzie Rebels hosted Memphis East at Bethel University Stadium for the right to advance to the State Tournament. After two overtimes at Bethel University’s Wildcat Stadium, McKenzie scored a goal during the second overtime to win it 3-2 and advance to the state tournament in Murfreesboro.

McKenzie’s Rebel soccer team made the trip to Spring Fling in Murfreesboro on Tuesday, May 23 and faced STEM Prep Academy in a 1:30 p.m. match. It became lopsided in the first half with STEM Prep scoring 4 goals in the first half and five more in the second half to hand the Rebels a 9-0 defeat.

The Rebels were held to no shots on the goal and no corner kicks as well. Will Essary did record 11 saves in the contest.
