Several Rebels Players, Coach Named All-West Tennessee

The All-West Tennessee Baseball Teams were announced recently with several McKenzie names showing up on it.

Coach Chris Wall – He was named All-West Coach of the Year after leading the Rebels to a 27-8 record winning the District 11A and Region 6A title on the way to the team’s first state tournament appearance since 2006.

Three Rebels were named first team All-West Tennessee while two more were named second team All-West Tennessee.

Hayden Hixson - Hixson, a junior, batted .424 with nine doubles, five home runs, 44 runs scored, and 24 RBI’s helping the Rebels reach the Class A state title game.

Tate Surber – A freshman contributed in a number of ways. He batted .406 with nine doubles, two triples, a home run, 26 RBIs, 23 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases. Tate also saw significant time on the mound for the Rebels.

Jake McDaniel – Jake was one of three seniors on the team and played like one too. He batted.422 with 11 doubles, nine homers, 50 RBIs and scored 39 runs. He posted a 7-1 record on the mound with a 2.83 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 54.3 innings. Jake signed a scholarship to play at Bethel University.

Senior Zayden McCaslin was named All-West second team after a solid season at shortstop and at the plate. He signed to play at Bethel University next year.

Junior Jackson Cassidy saw time in several positions including pitching and catching and was named second team Designated Hitter.
