McKENZIE (March 21) — McKenzie High School hosted Gleason Friday for an afternoon baseball game. The Rebels struck early and often, earning an 11-1 win in five innings.
McKenzie scored four runs in the bottom of the first and matched that in the second before adding three in the fourth. Gleason’s lone run came in the top of the fifth.
Rebel Tate Surber went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Xander Johnsey was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two stolen bases. KD Cunningham batted 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Fletcher Holt went 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and a run scored. Cole Brown was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Cooper Davidson went 0-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and a run scored. Lelan Gordon was 0-for-1 with two walks and an RBI.
Bulldog Brody Sanders went 1-for-1 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base. Jaxson Morgan batted 1-for-2.
Craegen Travis earned the complete-game win for McKenzie, allowing one unearned run on two hits while striking out six and walking five in five innings.
Aiden Legens took the complete-game loss for Gleason, allowing eleven runs (six earned) on ten hits while striking out one and walking seven in three and two-thirds innings.
