Dr. Katelyn Robertson Joins Webb Dental Clinic

Posted

Fresh from finishing her doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Dr. Katelyn Ridley Robertson is returning to Carroll County to begin her practice at Webb Dental Clinic in Huntingdon. A Carroll County native, Dr. Robertson is ready to serve alongside her lifelong dentist Dr. Billy Webb.

Katelyn Robertson grew up in McKenzie and graduated from McKenzie High School, where she participated in Rebel Track and Lady Rebel Basketball, in 2014. While attending high school, Katelyn job-shadowed at Webb Dental Clinic. She attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, graduating in winter 2017 with a degree with Cell and Molecular Biology. Before moving to graduate school, she worked as an assistant at the clinic.

She spent the next four years attending the University of Tennessee Health Science Center with plans to eventually practice at her home dental clinic. “Carroll County is my home. These are my people,” she said regarding her decision to return home.

Her first two years at graduate school, Katelyn, along with her cohorts, worked in labs, solely practicing on mannequins. The COVID-19 pandemic hit during her second year at school, causing her classes to move online and her labs to pause completely. Two months later, in June, labs resumed, causing Katelyn and her fellow students to work around the clock to make up for the time they missed. Katelyn received her doctorate in Dental Surgery in a graduation ceremony in May 2022.

Katelyn’s decision to become a dentist arose from several factors. She initially knew she wanted to work in the medical field and she wanted to be able to build relationships with her patients. Dentistry, she said, is a combination of medicine and art, as dentists sculpt to create or enhance their patients’ natural smiles. At Webb Dental Clinic, she is excited to build and enhance her relationship with people within Carroll County.

Dr. Robertson will provide all general dental services: crowns, fillings, dental extractions, and root canals. She will also provide the clinic with something new, offering nitrous oxide to patients with dental anxiety. Nitrous oxide is a slightly sedative chemical that patients can inhale for a calming and relaxing effect. It is administered throughout dental procedures upon patient request.

At this time, she is in-and-out of the office, preparing to accept new patients July 5. She recognizes Dr. Webb’s generosity for allowing her to see and serve some of his patients, saying she will also perform dental extractions and root canals on Dr. Webb’s patients upon request. She plans to eventually buy the office from Dr. Webb.

Katelyn, the daughter of Dan and Sheila Ridley, credits her family, saying she would not be here without their support along the way. Katelyn married Luke Robertson, also from McKenzie, in 2020.

Dr. Katelyn Ridley Robertson is thankful for her opportunity to return home and serve her community. Webb Dental Clinic, at 560 R.B. Wilson Drive in Huntingdon, is open four days a week. When Dr. Robertson begins her practice, the clinic will also open Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call (731) 986-2180. Patients can call and request Dr. Robertson beginning July 5.
