Multiple Charges — William Paul Beaton, 50, of 775 Dillahunty Road, Huntingdon, was charged with domestic assault, aggravated criminal trespass, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, unlawful possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and possession of schedule VI following a Jan. 16 incident.

According to the report by Deputy Michael Sevarns, deputies responded to a call from a residence on Dillahunty Road. The female victim told deputies Beaton had been inside her house and had thrown items off the kitchen table and made obscene comments toward her. She said Beaton then went outside, and she could hear him throwing items onto the driveway. She said at one point she went outside and moved her car while Beaton was inside his own nearby apartment, and after she went back inside, she heard shots being fired and heard what sounded like bullets striking the house. Upon arrival, deputies found Beaton inside his residence, where they observed a pistol on a chair, as well as other firearms inside the residence. Deputies could find no evidence that bullets had struck the victim’s house, but they did find four shell casings near the door of Beaton’s apartment. Beaton told deputies that he had been using the pistol to shoot at bottles he had thrown onto the ground. Sevarns noted that Beaton had prior felony charges out of Murfreesboro.

Court Order Violation — Melissa A. Moore, 54, of 1240 Sydnor Road, McKenzie, was charged with violating a court order granting bail following a Jan. 16 incident near McKenzie.

According to the report by Deputy Ryan Hamilton, Moore’s husband contacted the Sheriff’s Department saying that his wife was at his house on Highway 190 in violation of a court order. Hamilton noted in his report that Ms. Moore was arrested on Jan. 5 for aggravated assault against Mr. Moore.

DUI — Joseph Francis Wert, 23, of 660 Moss Creek Road, Cedar Grove, was charged with DUI and violation of implied consent during a Jan. 15 traffic stop in Cedar Grove.

Deputy Steven Scott reported he pulled over a vehicle driven by Wert for failing to stop at a stop sign on Highway 104. Scott noted that Wert appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance, and Wert performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Wert would not answer yes or no when asked to provide a blood or breath sample, and he would not sign the implied consent form. Two pills identified as amphetamines were found in Wert’s possession.

Vehicle Theft — Deputies are investigating the Jan. 14 theft of a vehicle in Atwood.
