Burglary — Christopher Steven McCaslin, 41, of 1050 Old Lavinia Road, Cedar Grove, was arrested on Jan. 5 for allegedly burglarizing a Cedar Grove residence.

According to the report by Deputy Kenny Tucker, a man who lives on Gardner Road contacted deputies on Jan. 5 and stated that McCaslin came onto his property, pried open the back door, and entered his residence. The man said McCaslin then went into his shop, took a band saw worth $2,500 and hooked up a 14-foot trailer valued at $2,000 with a John Deere zero turn mower valued at $5,000 on the trailer. The man also said that as he was driving home, he saw McCaslin driving a white Honda pickup truck with an unknown passenger pulling out of his driveway with the trailer and lawnmower in tow. The man advised deputies that he had all this on video. Authorities found McCaslin later that night at a residence on Highway 70. The trailer and mower were later found on Griggs Chapple Road.

Harassment — A warrant has been filed against Tyrone Ashley Winston, 41, of Jackson for allegedly sending threatening texts.

According to the report by Deputy Kenny Tucker, a male victim who lives on Field School Road told deputies on Jan. 4 that Winston, who the victim said is his new girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, has been texting him from several different phone numbers making threats toward him. Tucker contacted Winston by phone and warned Winston not to make any more threatening texts or calls to the victim or he would be charged with phone harassment. Winston then became irate with the deputy to the point that Tucker had to hang up on him. Tucker documented the text messages in question from the victim’s phone.

Aggravated Assault — Melissa Moore, 54, of 1240 Sydnor Road, McKenzie, was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly attacking her ex-husband at his residence.

According to the report by Deputy Steven Scott, he went to the emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County on Jan. 5 and spoke with the male victim, who said that Moore (his ex-wife) was at his residence and would not leave, even after being asked to leave several times. The victim said Moore became enraged, bit him on the jaw, and stabbed him in the left thigh with a knife. Scott noted that the victim had blood-soaked pants and an injury to his left thigh that required medical attention.

Domestic Assault — Moriah Renee Follett, 29, of 395 Miller Road, Huntingdon, was charged with domestic assault on Jan. 6 for allegedly attacking a family member at their mutual residence.

According to the report by Deputy Jason Walker, the female victim told deputies that she and Follett (her sister) had gotten into an argument. The victim said Follett started physically attacking her, hitting her in the face and scratching her arms. Walker noted that the victim had a scratch on her nose and several scratches and bruises on both arms.

Theft — Deputies are looking into the recent theft of a garbage can/cart from a residence on Highway 220 in Cedar Grove.

Joelyn Funderburk told deputies on Jan. 9 that her garbage can was missing. She said she put garbage into the can on Jan. 6, but then on Jan. 8 she noticed that the cart was missing and that the garbage she had placed in it was sitting on the ground.

Home Invasion — Deputies are looking for a man who allegedly invaded a home in Atwood.

According to the report by Deputy Christopher Adams, Tequila Bonds told deputies on Jan. 8 that she had been sitting on her couch at her residence on Elaine Street when an unknown white male kicked in her front door and entered her home. Bonds said a white female driving a silver car told her that the man is bipolar and off his medication. While investigating, Adams was advised by Nancy and Randall Long that they had found a white male wearing a hat with brown hair standing in their carport on Brooks Road. They said the man was polite and told them that he was standing there because of the wind. They said the man then walked off toward the nearby trailer park, a silver car pulled up, and the man got in. They said the car drove off down Brooks Street and crossed the railroad tracks. Deputies had not identified the suspect at the time of the report.

Trespassing — Mickey Shaun Staggs, 34, of Beach Bluff and Dorothy Morris, 58, of 185 Spruce Street, McKenzie, were both cited for trespassing on Jan. 11.

According to the report by Deputy Jason Walker, a woman living on Terry Road told deputies that there was a vehicle behind her house with a man and woman in it and that they did not have permission to be on the property. Upon arrival, Walker identified the man and woman as Staggs and Morris. The two said that they had been looking at a boat in the backyard when their truck got stuck.
