Theft — Charges are pending against a Henderson County man for allegedly stealing over $2,000 in tools from a worksite in Carroll County.
Deputy Michael Taylor reported that contractors were working on a house on Fisherman’s Cove near the 1,000-Acre Lake on Sept. 23 and that a disgruntled employee walked off the job. Shortly thereafter it was found that a lift and a pallet of tools on the lift were found to be missing from the worksite. The lift was found the next day in the parking lot of New Liberty Church, but the pallet of tools was gone. Investigations by deputies found that the suspect, who lives in Henderson, was at Country Side Grocery in Leach with the lift on Sept. 23 getting gas. The report did not name the suspect.
Simple Assault — Tanner C. Matheny, 25, of 99 Holmes Street, Trezevant, was charged with simple assault following a Sept. 26 incident at his residence.
Deputy Steven Scott reported that he responded to a call about a fight at Matheny’s residence. Upon arrival, Scott spoke with Trent Hardin, who said that he and Matheny got into an argument, Matheny started hitting him in the chest, and a physical fight ensued, during which Hardin hit Matheny back in self-defense. Scott observed that Hardin had visible injuries on his arm, hand, and neck.
Aggravated Assault — Edward Michael Birdwell, 47, of 81 Fowler Circle, Hollow Rock, was charged with aggravated assault and domestic assault following a Sept., 26 incident at his residence.
Deputy Scotty Davis reported that deputies responded to a domestic call at Birdwell’s residence. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with Birdwell’s girlfriend, who said that Birdwell broke her cell phone with a walking stick when she tried to call 911 and then raised the stick at her, causing her to fear for her safety and the safety of her son. Davis noted that Birdwell has prior domestic charges involving his girlfriend.
Domestic Assault — George Clinton Hill III, 41, of 3250 Highway 70 East, Cedar Grove, was charged with domestic assault following a Sept. 29 incident at his residence.
Deputy Scotty Davis reported that Hill assaulted Elizabeth Randow by striking her multiple times, knocking her to the ground, and hitting her head on a door facing, causing her to fear for her safety and the safety of her minor son.
Davis noted that Randow had visible marks of assault on her body consistent with her statements and that Hill has prior domestic assault charges.
