Multiple Charges — Cory Dale Alspaugh, 31, of 221 Marie Street, Hollow Rock, was charged with aggravated assault, domestic assault, and reckless endangerment following a May 12 incident at his home.

According to the report by Deputy Cody Coleman, deputies responded to Alspaugh’s residence after receiving an anonymous call about an individual shooting a dog at that address. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with Alspaugh, who appeared to have blood on his shoes and pants. When questioned, Alspaugh told deputies that he shot his dog in the living room with a .22 caliber rifle. Alspaugh’s wife told deputies that her husband had gotten mad at the dog and shot it while it was in its kennel. She said this put her in fear for her safety and she took her teenage son and left the residence. Deputies found a deceased dog in a trash can outside the home, and Alspaugh said he put the dog there after shooting it. A loaded .22 rifle was found in a bedroom closet. Alspaugh was transported to the Carroll County Jail and his bond was set at $8,500.

Man Found Dead — The body of a deceased McKenzie man was found outside on Winston Road on May 5.

According to the report by Deputy Frank McGee, he went to Winston Road and made contact with a woman who said she was the girlfriend of the deceased man, Jason Wayne Bryant, 35. The woman showed McGee where Bryant’s body was located. McGee noted that it was evident Bryant was deceased and a coroner arrived on the scene shortly thereafter. The woman told McGee, Bryant had been living in a car behind a nearby house, and she had dropped him off at that location on the previous evening and had been looking for him. The report does not give a cause of death.

Public Intoxication — Anthony Dalton Grant Young, 28, of 55 Hames Street, Trezevant, was charged with public intoxication on May 5 in Trezevant.

According to the report by Deputy Dakota Meier, he went to an address on Hames Street, and upon arrival, he observed Young on the front porch yelling for a female relative to open the door because her children were in danger and he was going to save them. When Meier called Young by name, Young said that was not his name and that he was Jesus Christ. Young walked across the street to the home of another relative and tried to enter the residence. Deputies told Young to stay outside, but he ignored them. Young was handcuffed and taken into custody.

License Violation — Jarrid Dewayne Sterling, 36, of 148 Adell Street, Hollow Rock, was charged with driving while license revoked during a May 6 traffic stop in Bruceton.

Deputy Dakota Meier reported he pulled over a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Sterling at Highway 70 and Old Bruceton Road. A computer check showed Sterling’s license was revoked with seven prior license violations. Sterling was transported to Carroll County Jail.

License Violation — Satori Elawn Watson, 35, of 321 Armory Street, Huntingdon, was cited for driving on a suspended license during a May 7 traffic stop in Huntingdon.

Deputy Michael Sevarns reported he pulled over a black Chrysler driven by Watson westbound on Highway 70 due to failure to maintain the lane. Watson gave Sevarns her driver’s license and told the deputy that she had just paid off her fines and reinstatement fees to the state. A computer check showed that Watson’s license was suspended with no prior offenses.

License Violation — Jeremy Carlton, 24, of 3184 Highway 77, Trezevant, was cited for driving on a suspended license during a May 9 traffic stop in Atwood.

Deputy Michael Sevarns reported he pulled over a red Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Carlton near the intersection of Highways 79 and 77 due to the lack of a light illuminating the license plate. A computer check showed Carlton’s driver’s license was suspended.

Warrant, License Violation — Denetria Maria Shaw, 48, of 95 Elane Street, Atwood, was arrested for an outstanding warrant and on a charge of driving on a revoked license during a May 9 traffic stop in Atwood.

Deputy Cody Coleman reported he pulled over a red Dodge Avenger driven by Shaw on Highway 79 due to a display of plate violation. Shaw told Coleman her license was suspended and a computer check showed that it was revoked for a DUI conviction in Dyer County. Coleman also found Shaw had an outstanding warrant out of Haywood County for failure to appear. Shaw was transported to Carroll County Jail.

Domestic Assault — Steve Jackson, 75, of 1035 Newton Road, McKenzie, was charged with domestic assault following a May 17 incident at his residence.

According to the report by Deputy Ryan Hamilton, Mr. Jackson’s wife, Linda, called the Sheriff’s Department and said that her husband had threatened her with a gun. Upon arrival, Hamilton spoke with Mrs. Jackson and she told him Mr. Jackson had told her to get her belongings and get out. After contacting a representative with the District Attorney’s Office, Hamilton placed Mr. Jackson under arrest and transported him to the Carroll County Jail. Ms. Jackson was advised about how to obtain an order of protection against Mr. Jackson.

License Violation — Belinda Butler Evans, 56, of 459 College Street, Bruceton, was charged with driving on a revoked license following a May 17 traffic accident on Bruceton-Vale Road.

Deputy Michael Sevarns reported he responded to the scene of the accident and spoke with Evans, who was the driver. Evans told Sevarns her tire blew out, causing the vehicle to wreck and become disabled. A computer check showed Evans’ license was revoked with no prior offenses.

Felony Evading — Laura Darnell, 48, of 1171 Highway 190, McKenzie, was charged with felony evading and driving on a revoked license (second offense) on May 13 following a pursuit and traffic stop near Lavinia.

According to the report by Deputy Dakota Meier, he was traveling on Highway 220 when he witnessed a white Chevrolet pickup parked in a gravel lot at the intersection of 220 and Highway 104. Meier observed the brake lights were illuminated and a woman was hunched over in the driver’s seat. Meier stopped and went to check on the woman (later identified as Darnell) and saw she was asleep. Meier tried to wake Darnell by knocking on the window and shining his flashlight in her face. When she woke, Darnell told Meier she didn’t have a driver’s license, said something about calling her daughter, put the truck in drive, and drove off. Meier got back in his patrol car and pursued, initiating his blue lights and siren. Darnell continued driving on the wrong side of the road but finally pulled over near Cunningham Road. When asked why she fled, Darnell said she had a joint and wanted to throw it out. Meier found no narcotics inside Darnell’s vehicle. A computer check showed Darnell’s license was revoked.

Vandalism — Deputies are investigating the recent vandalism of a church near Huntingdon.

According to the report by Deputy Christopher Adams, he went to Liberty All Methodist Church on May 13, and a parishioner showed him where a red brick had been thrown through a back window of the church. Adams noted that it did not appear anyone had entered the building.
