Drug/Narcotic Violation — According to a report by Deputy James M. Boaz, on April 25, Gregory Gurley called CCSO and stated that he was cleaning out his sister-in-law’s house (who has dementia) and getting it ready to sell. While he was going through the rooms cleaning, they came across a brown plastic bag with contents in it. The bag had two ball mason jars and one plastic jar; one Mason jar was full of brown leafy like substance believed to be marijuana, one jar was half full of marijuana, and the plastic jar had individually packaged seeds believed to be marijuana seeds with the total weight being 144 grams. Gurley stated the owner of the substance had been deceased for approximately 3 years.

DUI/ Drug/Narcotic Violation — According to a report by Deputy Alex Sherwood he stopped a vehicle traveling on Highway 105 for failure to maintain lane and failure to dim bright lights. While speaking with the driver, Deputy Sherwood noted signs of impairment, including the smell of alcohol. The driver, Daniel Dave McCarty, 31, of Memphis, stated he had just left a wedding and had a few drinks. McCarty performed badly on the impairment tests and was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail. After inventory of the vehicle, marijuana was also found.

Reckless Endangerment — According to a report by Deputy Daniel Thomas, on April 27, he was traveling down Hwy 79 when he saw Steven Crawford, 32, of Trezevant, traveling down the highway on whom he was getting ready to serve a warrant. The vehicle took off and Officer Thomas chased it through multiple counties until in Trenton the driver slowed and stuck his hand out the window. Crawford had two occupants in the vehicle with him, Crystal Alexander, 36, of Trezevant and Jennifer Seymore, 50, of Bolivar. After a search, meth was found and Crystal had 2 grams of marijuana on her person. Crawford also had a revoked license and was charged with felony evading, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest. Crystal was charged with simple possession. Jennifer had no charges but did have an active warrant out of Carroll County.

Possession of Drug/ Narcotics — According to a report by Deputy Alex Sherwood, he held a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to maintain lane of travel. After stepping out of the car, he heard a man yelling words nearby on the corner of Jones and Paris streets. The subject, Carl Morris, 56, of Huntingdon, had a handgun in his right front pants pocket. The handgun was removed while the deputy spoke with him. After doing a pat down a small, plastic container with residual meth was in his pocket. Morris said he had just smoked and was under the influence at the time. This occurred across the street from the Head Start within a drug-free zone.

Public Intoxication/Simple Assault — According to a report by Deputy Sean Bongiovanni, on April 30, Carroll County deputies were dispatched to Hwy 77 Hollow Rock for a physical disturbance. Jimmy Dale Turner Jr, 18, of Hollow Rock, had very slurred speech and a strong smell of alcohol. He was in a neighbor’s yard when found and causing a disturbance. It was also discovered he had pushed and harmed Everett Tucker, 63, which initiated the call.

Domestic Violence — According to a report by Deputy Sunny Crews-Sherwood, she and other deputies responded to a home on Highway 70 in Cedar Grove in reference to a subject who threatened harm to himself. The wife had called reporting that Joseph Rogers, 45, of Cedar Grove, had been drinking and smoking marijuana trying to cope with the anniversary of his father’s death. Joseph became irate and broke the basketball goal, then smashed the glass patio table with a golf club after coming at his wife. When deputies arrived, Joseph became more irate and he kept screaming at deputies to leave and he was going to kill them. Joseph broke the front window and threw out a rifle taunting deputies to come get him. After a brief standoff Joseph was able to be taken into custody without force. He was placed under arrest for domestic violence.
