Driving on Suspended License — On June 7, Investigator Dennis Adkins conducted a traffic stop on a black Saturn SUV. The driver, Robert Doede, 45, of McKenzie, was stopped for a light law violation. The driver’s side head lamp was not operational. After a computer check, it was confirmed that he had a suspended driver’s license. Robert consented to allowing a search of the vehicle and admitted to having a small amount of marijuana. Due to his honesty, he was not charged with the drugs, he was just cited for driving on suspended license and given 10 days to book in jail.

Theft of Property — On June 7, CCSO deputies were dispatched to Hamilton Street for a possible dispute. Upon arrival, deputies were met by Loretta Richard and Cindy Brackhan (her new caregiver) in the front yard. Ms. Richard advised that the homeowner Ms. Janice Baugh was attempting to evict her from the residence. Ms. Richard said that she wasn’t allowed to get the rest of her belongings and just wanted her things and to leave. Ms. Richard said she had $15,000 in Ms. Baugh’s locked safe for safe keeping but Ms. Baugh stated she didn’t have any money in her safe. After a long dispute, checking safes, and a trip to the bank, Ms. Richard was eventually paid what was believed to be owed of her money. Nothing more to report.

Drug Narcotic Violation — On June 9, Corporal Smith held a traffic stop on a silver 2001 Toyota Sedan. The driver, Brandon Graham, didn’t have a driver’s license and was issued a written warning for driving without one. While the warning was being written Brandon was showing obvious signs of nervousness, so Corporal Smith asked permission to search the vehicle which Brandon granted. There was also a passenger in the vehicle, Cayce Walker, 29, of Cedar Grove. After the search, an open plastic bag with meth was found in the passenger side. Ten syringes were found, with one being in Walker’s purse. She also had syringes with illegal drugs in them inside of her purse. She was arrested and transferred to Carroll County jail.

Burglary — On June 12, deputies were dispatched to Boyd Lane in reference to a burglary of a habitation. Crystal Pruitt reported that a white female known as “Lola”, was observed inside her mother’s vacant residence where she hasn’t lived in two years but still has belongings inside. Crystal observed “Lola” exiting the residence while carrying a basket of personal property of her mother’s. An arrest warrant for stolen property is pending currently on Lola Dean Clark, 64, of Jackson.

DUI — On June 12, Deputies were dispatched to Sulphur Springs Rd. in reference to a disturbance. It was reported that Christopher McCaslin, 44, of Cedar Grove, assaulted another then took his mother’s ATV and left highly intoxicated. He was located driving a Side by Side intoxicated. McCaslin’s license was also revoked for being a habitual offender.
