PARIS LANDING (June 27) — The new 91-room, 101,000 square-foot The Lodge at Paris Landing opens this week following a Monday ribbon-cutting ceremony by State of Tennessee officials.

Two and one-half years following the December 2019 groundbreaking ceremony, the officials were there to celebrate the opening of the “crown jewel” of the Tennessee State Park System.

Mitzi Hammonds is general manager of the Lodge at Paris Landing. She started at Paris Landing as a desk clerk. She said she has an amazing staff, with some long-termers.

The facility costs $44 Million and encountered delays in construction because of COVID.

The new 91-room Lodge at Paris Landing State Park provides hotel resort-style vacation rentals on Kentucky Lake near Land Between the Lakes. Features include modern room design, conference space, a full-service restaurant, bar, and lounge overlooking scenic lake and natural beauty.

Rooms include suites, individual rooms, with available wet bars and ADA accessible. Designated rooms are pet friendly. Every room has a view of Kentucky Lake. The Lodge has large outdoor fire pits, a swimming pool, conference rooms, and spacious hallways.

Honored attendees included David Salyers, commissioner, Department of Environment and Conservation; Jim Bryson, commissioner, Department of Finance and Administration; Mark Ezell, commissioner, Department of Tourist Development; John Hull, deputy commissioner, Department of General Services; Shannon Bowles, director of hospitality, Tennessee State Parks; Mike Robertson, director of operations, Tennessee State Parks; Mitzi Hammonds, general manager, Lodge at Paris Landing; Senator John Stevens of Huntingdon; Representative Bruce Griffey of Paris; and Representative Tandy Darby of Greenfield.

Also in attendance was former State Representative Tim Wirgau, who was very instrumental in securing funding for the hotel. The old hotel had many structural problems and was not totally ADA compatible.
The Lodge at Paris Landing is at 400 Lodge Road, Buchanan, Tennessee 38222.

Paris Landing State Park is an 841-acre park located on the western shore of the Tennessee River, which is dammed to form Kentucky Lake (160,000 acres).
