United Neighbors Receives Community Donations

Posted

McKENZIE (December 20) — Tuesday, on behalf of the Fannye Baxter Moore Trust Fund and the McKenzie Rotary Club, Saudia Akin accepted a $4,500 check from trust fund chairman Ed Perkins to help increase the positive impact that United Neighbors has on the lives of countless local families.

For well over half of a century, United Neighbors has maintained an unblemished record of assisting local residents in need.

Whether it is for food, clothing, electric bills, medical expenses or other basic needs, United Neighbors reaches out to assist community members in crisis.

In the last twelve months, during the COVID crisis, United Neighbors has served 390 families and conducted 235 “Blessing Box” giveaways, which served 250 children for Christmas.

Multiply these figures by 50 some odd years and you have an amazing record of achievement.

In addition to the Fannye Baxter Moore Trust Fund, individual Rotarians and local churches recognizing the value of United Neighbors to the fabric of the community have generously offered a helping hand. For example, at a recent budget meeting of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the church included a $2,000 donation to United Neighbors.
