West Carroll Swept by Clarksburg on Senior Night

ATWOOD (February 10) — West Carroll High School celebrated Senior Night Monday prior to a pair of basketball contests against Clarksburg. Two senior cheerleaders and two War Eagle players were honored on the court, joined by family members.

The festivities were followed by a long night of basketball that saw players shoot a total of 149 free throws in the two games. Ultimately, the visiting teams came out on top. After trailing at the half, the Lady Rockets pulled ahead in the third for a 57-50 win. The Rockets built an early lead en route to a 56-41 win.

West Carroll senior cheerleaders honored were Hannah Fowler, escorted by parents Jeremy and Brittany Fowler, and Bailey Rogers, escorted by parents Daniel and Kelly Rogers.

War Eagle seniors honored were Ryder Krawczyk, escorted by grandparents Mike and Terri Krawczyk, and Kayden Melton, escorted by parents Dameon and Mary Melton.

Clarksburg Lady Rockets 57, West Carroll Lady War Eagles 50
The Lady War Eagles led 19-15 after the opening frame, led by Chloe Rimmer with ten points, including a three-pointer. Gracelyn Vernon scored six points, also with a three. Alayna Lovelace had a pair, and Aubrey Hammett hit a free throw. Lady Rocket Libby Autry scored four points. Sam Segraves hit a three-pointer, and Maleigha Abdallah and Carlie Swinford each scored three points. Molly Williams had a pair.

West Carroll had a 14-13 edge in the second quarter, led by Vernon and Hailey Mitchell with four points each. Rimmer scored three, Lovelace added a pair, and Hammett hit another freebie. Abdallah led Clarksburg with six points. Addison Milam scored three, and Cari Glosson had a pair. Autry and Swinford each hit a free throw. At the half, the Lady War Eagles led 33-28.

The Lady Rockets took the lead with a 20-8 advantage in the third, led by Segraves with nine points, including a three. Abdallah scored five, and Swinford had four points. Glosson and McKenna Bolen each hit a free throw. Lady War Eagle Triniti Adkisson scored five points. Taylor Robinson had a pair, and Abbi O’Bryan hit a free throw. Entering the final frame, Clarksburg led 48-41.

The fourth was a 9-9 wash. Mitchell led West Carroll with four points. Vernon hit a three, and Hammett added a pair. Milam hit a three for the Lady Rockets, and Autry, Abdallah and Glosson each added a pair.

Lady Rocket Maleigha Abdallah led all scorers with 16 points. Sam Segraves scored a dozen with a pair of threes.

Chloe Rimmer and Gracelyn Vernon led West Carroll with 13 points each, Vernon with a pair of threes and Rimmer with one.

Rockets 56, War Eagles 41
Clarksburg had a 15-8 lead after the first frame. Rocket Reagan Halter hit a three-pointer, and Trae Cobb and Nathan Steel each had three points. Jake Miller and Erin Dickson each had a pair, and Chase Hollingshead and C. Hollowell each hit a free throw. Kayden Melton scored seven for West Carroll, and Mason Taylor hit a free throw.

The Rockets had a 14-5 advantage in the second quarter, led by Gabriel Derryberry with six points. Cobb scored four, and Miller added a pair. Clay Glosson and Connor Allen each hit a free throw. Melton and Taylor each added a pair for the War Eagles, and Chandler Rimmer hit a free throw. At the half, the Rockets led 29-13.

Clarksburg had an 8-6 edge in the third, led by Weston Vestal with four points. Cobb added a pair, and Derryberry and Dickson each hit a freebie. War Eagle Isaiah Snyder scored four points, and Taylor added a pair. Heading into the final frame, the Rockets led 37-19.

West Carroll rallied 22-19 in the fourth for a closer final score, led by Snyder with ten points. Rimmer and Melton each scored five, Rimmer with a three-pointer. Taylor added a pair. Miller and Cobb each scored five for Clarksburg, Miller with a three. Hollingshead had four points, Derryberry and Dickson each added a pair, and Halter hit a free throw.

Kayden Melton and Isaiah Snyder led West Carroll with 14 points each.

Trae Cobb led Clarksburg with 14 points.
