Weekly 150: 1960, 1963 Rebelettes

Let me put this out there first thing, I am not a local sports aficionado. I have a love for sports, but my historical mind does not have a filing cabinet dedicated to local sports history. For anything before 2000 that happened in Carroll County sports, I have to rely on our archives or the word of someone that is a self-proclaimed expert in all things sports.

With that being said, the 2022 Lady Rebels basketball season is one that I will never forget. While I did not attend the game in person, I had a front-row seat in my living room. It was an honor to cover and write the last three Lady Rebels’ games. I could not be more proud of you young ladies and your accomplishments this season. How about those Lady Rebels!

Now to the business at hand... It seems the staff has been flipping through the archives extra heavy this last week reading and trying to put pieces of a puzzle together about the 1960 and 1963 Lady Rebelettes basketball teams. I would like to thank Brad Camp for reminding me about the TSSAA’s history section on teams because we found old box scores from past championship series games.

This week instead of droning on about what I know and have learned, I am sharing photos of headlines and pages from what we have found.
