HENDERSON, Tenn. – Two old foes will meet Tuesday, November 6, 2018 for the 71st time as the No. 21 Bethel Lady Wildcats travel to Henderson to meet the No. 5 Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions at 5:30 in the Brewer Sports Center. Bethel is 3-0 on the season while Freed is 1-0 on the year. It will be Bethel’s first road game of the young season.
The Lady Wildcats have opened their year with home wins over Hiwassee, Brescia and Crowley’s Ridge, running their all-time Crisp Arena Record to 94-13. They are 42-2 against SSAC opponents in the building.
Freed’s win is a 73-39 home victory over Blue Mountain. Haylee Croom led the Lions with 18 points in the game.
Since 2007 FHU leads the series 22-6 and has beaten Bethel 13 of the 14 games played in Henderson. The lone Bethel victory was last year when the Lady Wildcats won 65-60 in the December tilt.
The Lady Cats average 90.7 points per game. They average giving up 54.7 points per outing. Bethel is 3-0 when they score 70 or more points in a game. Bethel is 32-1 in their last 33 games when scoring 70 or more points in a game.
The Lady Wildcats are 3-0 when they lead at halftime. They are 3-0 when they out rebound their opponents. Bethel is 3-0 when they outshoot their opponents.
Myah Taylor leads the Lady Cats averaging 26.7 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. She is 4th in the nation in scoring. Her 17 made three’s leads the nation. Morgan Martin pops in 13.7 points per outing and leads the team in assists. Freshman Ashton Hulme averages 11.3 points per outing while Millie Bryant scores 10.0 points per contest.
Coach Chris Nelson is in his 13th season as head coach of the Lady Wildcats and is 261-132. His teams have hit at least one three-pointer in each of his 393 games.
Dale Neal is in his 49th year of coaching and 25th at FHU and has a career mark of 674-176. After finishing 34-4 and winning the national title last year Coach Neal was inducted into the NAIA Hall-of Fame.
