McKENZIE (September 18) — The McKenzie Middle School Lady Rebels finished the softball season Tuesday with a 7-0 shutout win over the visiting Central Lady Tigers.
Prior to the game, five Lady Rebel eighth graders were recognized on the field with their parents.
Eighth graders included: Briley Auvenshine, daughter of Brent and Brandy Auvenshine; Kassidy Brown, daughter of Justin and Kristi Brown; Payton Ognibene, daughter of George and Jennifer Ognibene; Katie Prather, daughter of Jason and Samantha Chesser; and Kylie Reynolds, daughter of Stephanie McClerkin.
McKenzie scored a run in the bottom of the first, four runs in the third and a pair in the fourth for the shutout. Lady Rebel Savannah Davis had a hit and scored a pair of runs. Katie Prather drove in a run. Briley Auvenshine notched two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. Kassidy Brown had a double, scored a run, drove in a run and drew a walk. Payton Ognibene had a hit and drove in two runs. Nicole Gibson drove in a run. Mikaela Reynolds had one hit and scored two runs.
Kassidy Brown earned the complete-game shutout for McKenzie, allowing four hits while striking out four and walking one.
