Audition in August for Christmas at The Dixie
From the Jul 12, 2022 e-EditionWhat better way to celebrate Christmas in July than announcing a new holiday experience scheduled for Saturday, December 3 - Christmas at The Dixie!
This new and updated twist to an old classic, Christmas on Broadway, is now titled Christmas at The Dixie and will feature Paula Bridges and other special guests.
This year The Dixie is searching for the most talented performers in our local and regional area to make this one of the best ways to celebrate the holidays! Sheila Mitchell-Hart from Birdsong School of Music will be the music director and the house music will be provided by the praise team of Benton County’s Missionary Grove Baptist Church. This performance will be filmed and broadcast by West TN PBS station so performers and audience members must agree to be recorded.
Those interested in performing must audition: Adults: Thursday, August 11, 7-9 p.m.; Children, ages 6-10 (and adults who could not make Thursday), Saturday, August 27, 9-11 a.m.
Those auditioning for a singing role should be 18 years or older with some professional experience and should bring a digital file of their music loaded onto their mobile device and ready to plug in. Though the show theme is Christmas, all performances need not be Christmas themed and are expected to include many genres of music and drama. The Dixie welcomes singers, dancers, musicians, actors, comedians, choirs, and others in the performing arts to audition.
There is a specific need for a few children ages 6-10 years old to perform in a pre-recorded Christmas skit with adults who are “young at heart” to act out a scene on stage. To perform in this skit, attendance is required at one of the auditions to meet with directors with no preparation necessary. All chosen performers will be notified on or before September 1, 2022, with a rehearsal schedule to follow.
Tickets are $15 for Balcony and $20 for Orchestra, plus fees, and will go on sale in August. For additional information, visit DixiePAC.net or call The Dixie’s Box Office at 731.986.2100, Monday through Friday, 10 to 4 p.m.
