Wildcats Advance to NAIA Football Quarterfinals with 40-13 Win Over Evangel

McKENZIE (November 25) — The No. 7 Bethel University Wildcats pulled away midway of the third quarter to beat No. 9 Evangel 40-13 and in doing so advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA Championship Series. The game was the 500th in program history.

Ways to Support the Rebels, Attend the Game McKENZIE (November 27) — For the third consecutive year, the McKenzie High School Rebels football team is headed back to Chattanooga to the Division I Class 1A State Championship. This year, the team is defending their title against the South Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday, December 1, at 3 p.m. EST (2 p.m. CST) at Finley Stadium.

Mustang Football Placed on Probation HERMITAGE (October 2) — Following an investigation concerning an on-the-field altercation during the Huntingdon-Milan football on Friday, September 22, the TSSAA placed both teams on probation until the end of the 2024-2025 school year. The schools were fined $500 annually, amounting to $1,000 each over the two-year period. Though schools are on probation they are still allowed to participate in post-season play.

TRENTON (October 14) — On Saturday, the City of Trenton honored longtime coach and city alderman, Frank Gibson. Pedestrian Park in downtown Trenton was The Frank Gibson Pedestrian Park. Gibson spearheaded the creation of Pedestrian Park, turning a vacant lot in the heart of the downtown area into what is now one of the most utilized and beautiful amenities the city has to offer.

McKENZIE (October 20) — The Rebels continued to roll Friday night as they hosted Freedom Preparatory Academy of Memphis taking their eighth win of the season. McKenzie won 38-8 improving to 8-1 on the regular season and 4-0 in Region 6-1A.

McKENZIE (October 21) — It was a day of comebacks at Wildcat Stadium Saturday. Hundreds of alums came back for Homecoming and the Bethel football team rewarded them with a second half comeback of their own to beat Cumberland University 24-7.
