Rebels Resume Practice, Conclude 7-on-7s

McKENZIE (July 15) — The McKenzie High School Rebel football team resumed practice last week following the summer dead period with the season fast approaching. The team traveled for a pair of 7-on-7’s to conclude the week and held one final 7-on-7 Monday evening.

MURFREESBORO (May 23) — On Thursday, the McKenzie Rebels and the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Lady Tigers bowed out of the TSSAA Spring Fling after advancing to the Final Four.
Six local high school baseball and softball teams are headed to Murfreesboro this week to participate in the TSSAA State Championship Series. McKenzie Rebels Baseball, Huntingdon Mustangs Baseball, Huntingdon Fillies Softball, Hollow Rock-Bruceton Lady Tigers Softball, Westview Lady Chargers Softball and Henry County Lady Patriots Softball will take the field Tuesday afternoon in the double elimination tournament.
McKENZIE (May 18) — A meet and greet was held at the Hometown Hangout for two new head coaches at McKenzie High School. Dru Emerson, former assistant Lady Rebels basketball coach, was promoted to head coach. Coach Justin Lowery is joining the Rebels staff from Gibson Co. High School, where he has been head coach for the Pioneers basketball team since 2012. Lowery is the new head coach of the Rebels basketball team.

McKenzie Takes Perry County in Region Semis

McKENZIE (May 10) — On Friday, the McKenzie Rebel faced off against Perry County in the Region 6A Semi-Final. Jake Cassidy pitched a one hit game with eleven strikeouts claiming the 9-0 victory.

MURFREESBORO (May 24) — After four days of intense action that included weather delays and a round-robin of venues, the Huntingdon Mustangs and Fillies claimed state runner-up titles in baseball and softball for Class 2A. Hannagan Pitching Camp Moved to July 29

McKENZIE — Bethel Coach Katherine Hannagan’s pitching camp at Bethel University has been rescheduled. The camp is now July 29 and 30.

Rebels Claims District Title

McKenzie (May 3) — On Friday, the McKenzie Rebel High School Baseball Team defeated McEwen for the District Championship, 8-0.

McKenzie Advances to Championship with Bruceton Win

McKENZIE (May 2) — On Thursday, the McKenzie Rebels Baseball Team defeated Hollow Rock-Bruceton 14-4 to advance to the 1A District 11 Championship. Lane Anderson pitched in the game against Bruceton. The Tigers got the first run on the night in the first inning. McKenzie responded with two runs. Hayden Garrett stole home and Tate Surber hit Jake Cassidy in putting the score at 2-1 at the end of the first. The Rebels came alive in the bottom of the second scoring ten runs. A big hit from Anderson got Gage Crosland, Lelan Gordon, and Craegen Travis. Bruceton got three more runs before McKenzie ended the game in the fifth inning with a final score of 14-4.
