The Banner Shares ‘Summer Mix Tape’ Playlist

Something I’ve been working on lately is different ways to interact with readers. I have a few ideas that I’ve been mulling over and this is one of them, sharing music with you.

Music has always been a big part of who I am, and I know several of you feel the same way.

Music has the power to reach people across all nationalities and language barriers because it communicates on a deeper level, it has the power to speak to your soul.

Some of these songs remind me of local bands that have performed in the area. Live music is an irreplaceable experience and we are fortunate to have so many local, talented groups.

My parents raised me on their favorite music and so these songs bring back good memories on the lake of my dad singing the high notes to The Beach Boys or how Chicago’s trombone section made him reminisce about his high school days. Mom was a singer and dad was in the marching band.

Music has been such a big part of me because of my parents’ love of it.

So whatever your worries are, put them aside for now and let the music play.
