Boo Bash is October 23
From the Sep 16, 2025 e-EditionMcKenzie’s twelfth-annual Boo Bash is fast-approaching. The Halloween event, sponsored by Bethel University and the City of McKenzie, is Thursday, October 23, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown McKenzie.
This year, the festivities include trunk-or-treating, bouncy houses, a cake walk, a costume contest, a “Best Trunk” contest, haunted train rides and a “Bail-Me-Out!” fundraiser.

New Portrait of Hal Holbrook Unveiled at The Dixie PAC
HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — The legacy of the late actor Hal Holbrook has been immortalized in a new oil portrait, unveiled Wednesday, August 19, at the Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center. The painting, created by artist and former art professor Lindon Noe, now hangs in the Center, serving as a companion piece to an existing portrait of Holbrook’s wife, the late Dixie Carter-Holbrook.
