Bulldogs, Lady Yellowjackets Claim District Wins

GREENFIELD (January 9) — Greenfield High School hosted Gleason Friday for a pair of district basketball contests. The host Lady Yellowjackets pulled away early for a 77-35 win. The Bulldogs led early, then bounced back from a fervent Yellowjacket rally in the third to claim a 79-65 victory.
Greenfield Lady Yellowjackets 77, Gleason Lady Bulldogs 35
The Lady Yellowjackets doubled up Gleason in the opening frame, 26-13, led by Ella Porter with 14 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Rayanna Fisher scored five with a three. Skylar Arnold had four points, Madelyn Coble had a pair, and Maddie Paschall hit a free throw. Karlie Wilson led the Lady Bulldogs with seven points. Hylan Leach hit a three, and Ahmyre Allen also scored three points.
Greenfield shut out Gleason, 23-0, in the second quarter, led by Porter with 12 points, again with a pair of threes. Fisher scored six, Orin McNeil hit a three-pointer, and Arnold added a pair. At the half, the Lady Yellowjackets led 49-13.
The third quarter was a 20-20 wash. Fisher led Greenfield with nine points, including a three. Porter scored six. Arnold and Kensie Garner each had a pair, and Adlee Sullivan hit a free throw. Leach led Gleason with nine points, including a three-pointer. Allen scored six, Kadence Witherspoon had four points, and Madi Dean hit a free throw. Entering the final frame, Greenfield led 69-33.
The Lady Yellowjackets capped the win with an 8-2 tilt in a quick fourth. Coble, Sullivan, McNeil and Mary Katherine Moore each had a pair. Lady Bulldog Kristiana Addison also scored two points.
Greenfield's Ella Porter led all scorers with 32 points, including four three-pointers. Rayanna Fisher scored 20 with a pair of threes.
Hylan Leach led Gleason with 12 points, including a pair of threes. Ahmyre Allen had nine points.
Bulldogs 79, Yellowjackets 65
Gleason had a 23-13 lead after the first frame, led by Kade Sawyers with nine points, including a pair of three-pointers. Parker Morgan scored eight, also with a pair of threes. Drake Lehmkuhl had four points, and Brody Sanders had a pair. Nick Brown led Greenfield with six points on a pair of threes. Anthony Green scored three points, and Cruze Porter and Caden Sparkman each had a pair.
The Bulldogs had a 16-13 edge in the second quarter, led by Sawyers with five points. P. Morgan hit a three, and Lehmkuhl and Miami Woolridge each scored three points. Ashton Morgan had a pair. Porter and Sparkman each scored four for Greenfield. Brown hit a three-pointer, and Easton Sullivan had a pair. At the half, Gleason led 39-26.
Greenfield rallied 23-17 in the third, led by Porter with eight points, including a pair of threes. Sullivan scored five with a three, and Baker Biggs had four points. Brown and Sparkman each added a pair. Sawyers led the Bulldogs with seven points. Lehmkuhl and Sanders each scored four, and Brock Dilday had a pair. Heading into the final frame, the Bulldogs led 56-49.
Gleason sealed the win with a 23-16 advantage in the fourth, led by Lehmkuhl with six points. P. Morgan scored five. A. Morgan, Woolridge and Sanders each had four points. Sullivan led Greenfield with eight points, including a pair of threes. Biggs scored four, and Porter and Sparkman each added a pair.
Bulldog Kade Sawyers led all scorers with 21 points, including a pair of threes. Drake Lehmkuhl scored 17, and Parker Morgan had 16 with a trio of three-pointers.
Cruze Porter led the Yellowjackets with 18 points, including a pair of threes. Easton Sullivan scored 15 with a trio of three-pointers, and Nick Brown had eleven points, also with a trio of threes.
