Funeral services were on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Interment was at Shiloh Cemetery. Brother Scott Carter officiating.
Carolyn was born August 24, 1952, to the late J.W. Prater and Helen Prater. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, J.R. Garlits; one brother, David Prater, and wife-in-law, Ronda Garlits.
She is survived by one daughter, Paula Garlits Byrd of Nashville, Tennessee; one sister, Bonita Bonnell of Blufftown, South Carolina; former husband and friend, Jody Garlits; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
