Clarksburg Teen Dies in Single-Car Crash

CLARKSBURG - Funeral services are Thursday at Chase Funeral Home-Huntingdon for Miss Emily Cary Peterson, 17, of Clarksburg, Tennessee. Miss Peterson died Monday, October 12, 2020.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol's crash report indicates the 17-year-old was driving a 2012 Ford Focus on Highway 424 around 3:30 a.m. in Carroll County.

She was heading eastbound on Highway 424 when it left the right side of the road, went down an embankment and hit a tree.

Miss Emily Cary Peterson, 17, of Clarksburg, Tennessee passed away Monday, October 12, 2020, from injuries she received in an automobile accident.

Funeral services are Thursday, October 15 at noon at the Clarksburg Church of Christ with Bro. Chase Sanders, Bro. Tim Parish, Mark Peterson and Hunter Peterson officiating.  Interment will follow in Sellers Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and at the Clarksburg Church of Christ on Thursday from 11 a.m. until time of service.

Miss Peterson was born May 26, 2003 in Jackson, Tennessee.  She was a senior at Clarksburg High School where she was in the Beta Club and a member of Clarksburg Church of Christ.  She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Bobby and Jean Peterson.

She is survived by her parents, Steven Leslie and Michelle Renee (Cary) Peterson, maternal grandparents, Max & Pansy Cary, all of Clarksburg, one sister Hillary Parish (Adam), and one brother, Hunter Peterson, both of Huntingdon.  She also leaves one niece, Austin Ivy Parish and one nephew, Tate Parish.
