McKENZIE — David R. Fisher, 73, of McKenzie, died at his residence on Monday, August 3, 2026. Born on August 8, 1952, in Humboldt, Tennessee, he was the son of the late U.L. and Alice Jo Stavely Fisher.
Funeral services are Saturday, August 8, at 11 a.m. at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Carroll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 7, from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
A dedicated journalist, Mr. Fisher spent three decades contributing to Tri-County Publishing, Inc. His distinguished career included roles at The Carroll Leader in Huntingdon, The McKenzie Banner, and the Dresden Enterprise. He began his career with the Washburn family’s publications in 1991 and served faithfully until his retirement in 2021.
Mr. Fisher was a graduate of Bethel University and a member of Bridge of Hope Church in Paris. He also served his country with honor for 30 years as a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Diane Westmoreland Fisher; his two sons, Jonathan Fisher and James (Lisa) Fisher, all of McKenzie; a sister, Janet (Jeff) Moody of Puryear; a brother, Lyndel (Sherry) Fisher of Newbern; and his two grandsons, Daniel Fisher and Daylen Fisher.
