Dresden Defeats West Carroll, 43-6
DRESDEN (September 4) — West Carroll struggled to generate offense against Dresden as the Lions handed the War Eagles a 43-6 loss.
West Carroll finished the game with 150 yards of total offense, with the bulk of its production coming on the ground.
Chris Pruitt led the War Eagles with 82 rushing yards on eight carries, averaging more than 10 yards per attempt. Parker Newman carried 13 times for 43 yards and scored West Carroll’s lone touchdown. Newman also completed 1 of 4 passes for two yards.
Kegan Mealer added 10 yards on one carry, while Alex Cavness rushed twice for 13 yards. Jaden Rodgers had one carry and caught West Carroll’s lone completion for two yards.
Caleb Vermillion had eight rushing attempts for minus-one yard and was credited with an interception and a fumble in the offensive statistics.
Defensively, Cole Mueller led the War Eagles with seven solo tackles and two assists, including a sack. Vermillion recorded four solo tackles, four assists and a sack.
Cavness finished with five solo tackles and two assists, while Pruitt recorded five solo stops and one assist. Kegan Mealer contributed one solo tackle and six assists.
Skylar Wilson had two solo tackles and three assists. Chance Long recorded three assists and broke up a pass, while RQ Thompson had two solo tackles and an assist.
Newman provided one of West Carroll’s biggest defensive plays with an interception. He also broke up a pass. Sawyer Jackson was credited with another pass breakup.
Landon Wilson recorded a solo tackle and an assist, Rylen had one solo tackle and one assist, Noah Cecchini contributed two assists and David added an assist.
On special teams, Rodgers totaled 28 yards on three returns. RQ Thompson had 13 yards on two returns, Skylar Wilson returned one kick for 10 yards and Newman totaled 31 yards on two returns.
Newman also handled the punting duties, averaging 37 yards on four punts.
The War Eagles were unable to overcome Dresden’s offensive production as the Lions pulled away for the 43-6 victory.
