Dresden Sweeps West Carroll

DRESDEN (January 23) — Dresden High School hosted West Carroll Friday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Lions took an early lead en route to a 52-35 win. The War Eagles had an edge at the half, but the Lions took control in the third for a 67-45 victory.

The Lady Lions jumped out to a 14-2 lead after the opening frame, led by Elizabeth Jarred with six points on a pair of three-pointers. Jacie West and Molly Robinson each hit a three, and Gracie Adams had a pair. Aubrey Hammett scored West Carroll's two points.

Dresden doubled up West Carroll 12-6 in the second quarter, led by West with six points on a pair of threes. Jarred, Caroline Stephenson and Irah Cianfarani each had a pair. Lady War Eagle Hailey Mitchell hit a three-pointer, Chloe Rimmer had a pair, and Taylor Robinson hit a free throw. At the half, Dresden led 26-8.

The Lady Lions had a 16-14 edge in the third, led by M. Robinson with seven points, including a three. West, Cianfarani, Jentri Mangiarcinia and Marissa Owens each had a pair, and Adams hit a freebie. Mitchell led West Carroll with four points. Rimmer and Abbi O'Bryan each hit a three, and Hammett and T. Robinson each added a pair. Entering the final frame, Dresden led 42-22.

The Lady War Eagles had a 13-10 advantage in the fourth, led by Rimmer with five points, including a three-pointer. Mitchell scored four, and Marissa Mueller and Gracelyn Vernon each had a pair. Cianfarani led Dresden with four points. Stephenson hit a three, West added a pair, and Rylee Cousins hit a free throw.

Lady Lion Jacie West led all scorers with 13 points, including a trio of threes. Molly Robinson scored ten with a pair of three-pointers.

Hailey Mitchell led West Carroll with eleven points, including a three. Chloe Rimmer scored ten with a pair of threes.

Lions 67, War Eagles 45

Dresden had a 17-10 lead after the first frame, led by Landon Floyd with five points, including a three-pointer. Connor Floyd scored four. Athan Spaulding and Ayden Flora each hit a three, and JD Seaton had a pair. Demarion Gilbert led West Carroll with six points, including a three. Mason Taylor scored four points.

The War Eagles stormed back 18-9 to take the lead in the second quarter, led by Skyler Wilhite with 12 points on four three-pointers. Taylor, Trey Williamson and Chandler Rimmer each had a pair. L. Floyd scored five for the Lions with a three. C. Floyd and Landon Cantrell each had a pair. At the half, West Carroll led 28-26.

The Lions bounced back with a 22-6 advantage in the third, led by C. Floyd with eleven points, including a trio of threes. Spaulding scored six on a pair of threes, and Flora had five points with a three. Williamson, Taylor and Rimmer each added a pair for West Carroll. Heading into the final frame, Dresden led 48-34.

Dresden sealed the win with a 19-11 tilt in the fourth, led by Flora with six points. Cantrell scored four. Grey Forrester hit a three, and C. Floyd also scored three points. Jacob Durham had a pair, and Spaulding hit a freebie. Gilbert led West Carroll with six points. Wilhite hit a three, and Williamson and Isaiah Snyder each hit a free throw.

Lion Connor Floyd led all scorers with 20 points, including a trio of threes. Ayden Flora scored 14 with a pair of threes.

Skyler Wilhite led West Carroll with 15 points on five three-pointers. Demarion Gilbert scored 12 with a three.
