Fillies Top Camden, Advance to Title Game

CAMDEN (May 4) — The Huntingdon High School Fillies clinched an appearance in the District 12AA Softball championship game and in the region tournament with a 3-1 win over tournament host Camden Monday.

The Fillies struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the third and added another in the fourth. The Lady Lions' lone run came in the bottom of the seventh.

Huntingdon's Ellie Wilson was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and one run scored. Camdyn Sellers was 2-for-4. Emalyn Maness was 1-for-1 with an RBI-sacrifice fly. Grier Bartholomew was 1-for-1 with a walk. Knox Bennett was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Kylie Tippitt was 1-for-4.

Lady Lion Carson Douglas was 2-for-3. Abbi-Grace Wallace was 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Marcie Mitchell earned the complete-game win for the Fillies, allowing one unearned run on two hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Carson Douglas took the loss for Camden, allowing three unearned runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out one in six innings. Addie Melton pitched the final frame, allowing no runs, hits or walks with one strikeout.
