From the Dec 9, 2025 e-EditionGLEASON, Tenn. — Services for George Wayne Sawyers, age 80, of Gleason, Tenn., are Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Gleason First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery in Gleason. Visitation will begin Saturday at 11 a.m. and continue until the time of his funeral service.
He was born July 29, 1945 and died November 28, 2025.
Mr. Sawyers is survived by his daughter, Allison (Chris) Weaver of Jackson, Tenn. He is also survived by two siblings, June Caldwell and Jerry Sawyers, both of Gleason. He leaves behind four grandchildren: Maggie Weaver (Travis) Crouch, Ellie Belle Weaver, George Grant Weaver, and Jack Henry Weaver. Mr. Sawyers was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Sawyers, and parents, Dudley and Maggie Belle Sawyers.
