HUNTINGDON (July 6) — Huntingdon coaches Jimmy Pritchard and Eric Swenson are this month's featured speakers with the Huntingdon Historical Society. At 9 a.m. on July 15, the two will visit the conference room of Huntingdon City Hall to discuss the history of Huntingdon Mustang Football.

Coach Jimmy Pritchard attended Huntingdon High School and played football for the Huntingdon Mustangs before attending the University of Tennessee at Martin. Pritchard coached at McKenzie for five years before returning to Huntingdon to coach and teach. Pritchard stayed in the Huntingdon school system for 32 years. Pritchard and his wife, Betty, have been married for 56 years. Together they share two children and four grandchildren.

Coach Eric Swenson served as an offensive coordinator for the Mustangs from 1996 to 2004, and he became the head coach in 2008. In Swenson's first season as head coach, the Mustangs finished third in their district. Under Swenson's coaching, the Huntingdon Mustangs won their second-ever state championship in 2025. The HHS Field was named in his honor the same year.

The Huntingdon Mustang Football Team was founded in the early 20th century. The Mustangs won their first State Championship in 2003 when they defeated David Lipscomb.

All are invited to attend the Huntingdon Historical Society's July 15 meeting.
