The historic Park Theatre in downtown McKenzie is the venue for two events during the McKenzie High School Alumni Association’s Decades Reunion weekend, September 25 and 26, 2026.

In coordination with the Gordon Browning Museum, a commemorative video of McKenzie’s “Homecoming ‘86” celebration will be shown at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 25, after McKenzie High’s homecoming parade. The video was produced locally during the festivities and is being shown on the 40th anniversary of the historic event.

“Homecoming ‘86” was a statewide celebration in Tennessee in 1986, with the local edition in McKenzie taking place on Labor Day weekend. Events included a special parade, recognition of former McKenzie Rebel football captains and homecoming royalties at Rebel Stadium, MHS

class reunions for all past graduating classes, the Webb Alumni Reunion, and many other activities. The City of McKenzie converted an old barn into the McKenzie City Park’s present day pavilion in preparation for “Homecoming ‘86”.

Admission to the showing is free, but donations to the Carroll County Historical Society at the theatre are greatly appreciated.

On Saturday, September 26 at 2:30 p.m., the theatre will host a roundtable discussion of the 2006 McKenzie Rebel State Championship baseball season. Moderated by local sports journalist Jim Steele (MHS Class of 1979), the conversation will include coaches, players, and administrators who will reminisce and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the school’s state championship run in Murfreesboro.

Please note the round table’s time change to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday as it was previously scheduled and announced for 3 p.m. The public is cordially invited to attend, and admission is free.
