Holiday Storms Flood Streets
From the Jul 7, 2026 e-Edition
Again: South Main Street-McKenzie in front of Block City Pizza was again flooded after heavy rains on Sunday, July 5. The city blocked the low-lying area to prevent motorists from driving through the flooded street.
Much of the heavy rains were concentrated in the McKenzie area of Carroll County on Sunday. North Main, US 79 at the railroad overpass, and other city streets sustained temporary flooding.
On Saturday, high winds downed trees in and around the city. Carroll County Emergency Management Agency said they had no reports of significant damage during the holiday weekend storms. However, the area sustained rains on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday along with temperatures in the 90s each day.
