Huntingdon Police Reports

Theft of Handgun — According to a report made on July 23, Sgt. Ethan Parham took a report at the Huntingdon Police Department regarding a stolen handgun.

The complainant advised that a black Springfield .380-caliber semiautomatic handgun with ivory/off-white G10 grips had been stored in her vehicle. She stated the handgun had been missing for approximately two weeks, and she initially believed it had been misplaced.

The handgun was entered into NCIC as stolen, and the incident remains under investigation.

Shoplifting — According to a report made on July 14, Sgt. Ethan Parham responded to Walmart regarding a shoplifting complaint.

Walmart Loss Prevention advised that on June 22, Alyvia Foster used the self-checkout and scanned multiple items but failed to scan and pay for all merchandise before leaving the store. The incident was captured on Walmart’s security surveillance system.

The unpaid merchandise was valued at $78.11. Foster was issued a criminal citation for theft of property involving merchandise and cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court.

Driving Without a License Following Crash — According to a report made on July 23, Sgt. Ethan Parham responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Buena Vista Road and Veterans Drive.

During the investigation, officers determined that Gaspar Baltazar-Gomez failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the four-way intersection, resulting in a collision with another vehicle. Further investigation revealed Baltazar-Gomez did not possess a valid driver’s license.

Baltazar-Gomez was arrested and charged with failure to stop at a stop sign and driving without a valid driver’s license. According to the report, federal authorities later determined Baltazar-Gomez was not lawfully present in the United States, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued an immigration detainer for him.

Shoplifting — According to a report made on July 27, Sgt. Ethan Parham responded to Walmart regarding a shoplifting complaint.

Following an investigation, officers determined Ariel McCurdy and Chetney Johnson concealed multiple items of merchandise on their persons and attempted to leave the store without paying. The incident was witnessed by Walmart Loss Prevention and captured on the store’s security camera system.

The merchandise was valued at $31.11. McCurdy and Johnson were each cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court for theft of property involving merchandise.

Felony Evading Arrest, Reckless Driving — According to a report made on July 23, Officer Daniel Inman observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Lexington Street. Radar showed the vehicle traveling 69 mph in a posted 45 mph zone.

Officer Inman activated his emergency lights and siren, but the driver failed to stop and continued traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle passed a delivery van before turning into the Missionary Baptist Church parking lot and continuing onto Moody Street.

Lt. Joey Hedge later observed the vehicle continue onto Noles Lane. Sgt. Ethan Parham then observed the vehicle fail to stop at the intersection of Noles Lane and Highway 22 South, narrowly missing multiple vehicles as it entered the intersection.

The vehicle eventually came to an abrupt stop, and the driver, Hunter Canada, exited. Sgt. Parham placed Canada in handcuffs without further incident.

Canada was arrested and charged with felony evading arrest and reckless driving. He was also cited for speeding 69 mph in a 45 mph zone and failure to obey a stop sign. Canada was transported to the Carroll County Jail.

Simple Possession of Marijuana — According to a report made on July 21, Officer Brad Allen was contacted by an off-duty police officer who reported seeing a man in a van attempting to roll a marijuana joint while parked at Huck’s.

Officer Allen responded and made contact with Emmanuel T. Little. When Little opened the vehicle door, Officer Allen detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. Little admitted having marijuana and handed Officer Allen an envelope containing a small amount of crushed marijuana.

When asked if there was additional marijuana in the vehicle, Little stated there was more inside a can in his backpack. Officer Allen located a can containing a clear plastic bag with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. The marijuana weighed 4.2 grams.

Little was cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court and charged with simple possession of marijuana.
