Mr. Hatley was a retired high school teacher/coach, including in McKenzie, and a Marine Corps veteran. He was born on January 18, 1938, to the late Melvin Hatley and Mary Inez Hatley-Dail, in Camden. Besides his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah C Hatley; sister, Helen Marie Hatley; and son, Timothy W. Hatley.
He is survived by children, Kimberly A Jones of Hickman, Kentucky, Jennifer L Fields of Bradford, Tenn., Jim Hatley (Roxanne) of McKenzie, Tenn., Amanda "AJ" Hatley of Milan, Tenn.; grandchildren, Felicia Fields, Brandon Hatley, Carlee Oglesby (Nate), Dalton Hatley, and Heaven Hatley; and a sister, Joyce Ann Hampton (Thomas) of Pensacola, Florida.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in Hopewell Cemetery in Lavinia.
