Lady Rebels Fall to McEwen in Opener
From the May 12, 2026 e-EditionMcEWEN (May 4) — The McKenzie High School Lady Rebels traveled Monday for a satellite game against McEwen to begin the District 12A Softball Tournament. The host Lady Warriors took the lead in the middle innings and held off a late McKenzie rally for a 6-2 win.
McEwen struck first with a run in the bottom of the third, then added three in the fourth and two in the fifth. McKenzie got on the board with two runs in the top of the seventh.
Lady Rebel Kailie Hudgins was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Ridley Holt was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Addyson Littleton was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Braylin Auvenshine was 1-for-3. Haylee Beard was 0-for-3 with an RBI.
Lady Warrior Tylee Tummins was 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and one run scored. Layla Fleming was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Ava Lastovka was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Laila Darden and Carley Baker were both 1-for-3 with a run scored. Kendall McNeil was 1-for-3. Neelyann Martin was 0-for-1 with an RBI. Morgan Henry was 0-for-3 with an RBI.
Ava Lastovka earned the complete-game win for McEwen, allowing two earned runs on four hits while walking one and striking out 16.
Aurora Johnson took the complete-game loss for McKenzie, allowing six runs (one earned) on eight hits while walking none and striking out three.
