Lady Rebels Top Fillies, 3-1

HUNTINGDON (September 4) — Huntingdon High School hosted McKenzie Thursday for a district soccer contest. The Fillies struck first, but the visiting Lady Rebels responded with three unanswered goals for a 3-1 win.
Three of the game's four goals came in a flurry late in the first half.
Huntingdon's Madelynn Anderson scored first with 12:32 remaining in the first half, but Lady Rebel Stephanie Padilla answered in just eleven seconds for the tie. Padilla gave McKenzie the lead three minutes later on a free kick.
The Fillies controlled the ball for long periods in the second half and made several good attacks on the goal, but couldn't tie it again.
Lady Rebel Sophie Dameron added an insurance goal with three minutes left in the match.
Besides Padilla's two goals and Dameron's one, Ava Hastings had an assist. Goalkeeper Alleigh Britt recorded eight saves.
Huntingdon goalkeeper Maddie Brinkman had five saves.
