Lady Tigers Edge Lady Rebels in Opener

BRUCETON (May 5) — Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School hosted McKenzie Monday to open the District 12A Softball Tournament. A big first inning for Central and a strong answer by McKenzie in the second gave way to a defensive battle resulting in a 6-4 victory for the Lady Tigers.
Central scored five runs in the bottom of the first, and McKenzie responded with four in the top of the second. The only other run came in the Lady Tiger fourth.
Lady Rebel Jaycee Stafford was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Braylin Auvenshine went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Kailie Hudgins was 1-for-2 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Ady Freeman went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Aubrey Jackson was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Maggie Hall went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
Lady Tiger Spencer Ervin was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Keely Williams went 1-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Madison Holder was 0-for-1 with two walks.
Madison Holder earned the complete-game win for Central, allowing four earned runs on six hits while striking out seven and walking one.
Aurora Johnson took the complete-game loss for McKenzie, allowing six unearned runs on two hits while striking out three and walking four.
