Lil Rebs Soccer Camp Develops Young Talent
From the Jul 21, 2026 e-Edition
McKENZIE (July 13-15) — The McKenzie High School Rebel and Lady Rebel soccer teams and Head Coach Karlene Ellis hosted the Lil Rebs Soccer Camp from Monday through Wednesday, drawing 25 kids ages 4-10.
During the evening sessions, the young footballers participated in passing drills, learned how to move with and without the ball, developed listening skills and competed in scrimmages.
Kids also played some "just for fun" games for prizes, including "Soccer, Soccer, Ball," a play on "Duck, Duck, Goose."
On the final day, campers competed in tournaments and then gathered to recap what they had learned and receive soccer swag.
Coach K thanked camp sponsors Maria's Mexican Restaurant and Dilla's Sewing as well as several high school parents for their contributions, particularly Jamie Emerson, who assisted throughout and posted many photos to the McKenzie High School Soccer Facebook page.
