Local Candidates Begin to Qualify for November Election

CARROLL COUNTY (July 16) — Municipal seats in Atwood, Bruceton, Hollow Rock, McKenzie, McLemoresville and Trezevant will be up for grabs come November, as yet another election looms ahead in Carroll County. 

The general election for the above-listed cities is Tuesday, November 3. Also on the ballot is the battle for Tennessee Governor.

Candidate-petitioning for Atwood, Bruceton, Hollow Rock, Huntingdon, McKenzie, McLemoresville and Trezevant municipal seats began June 22. Candidates must turn in their signed petitions to qualify by noon August 20 to be on the November 3 ballot.
The Carroll County Election Commission released an ongoing list of petitioners for the November election on July 16 at 10 a.m.

Municipal seats on the November 3 ballot are as follows:

Atwood

Mayor: Terry Joe Herndon has picked up a petition for the seat. Incumbent Fridie Algee has not yet picked up a petition.

Two alderman positions: Dustin Church and Joann Long have filed petitions, and Tommy Polinski has picked up a petition. Incumbents Jim Lewis and Randy D. Long have not picked up petitions.

Bruceton

Mayor: Incumbent Robert T. Keeton, III, has picked up a petition.

Two alderman positions: Incumbent Jack R. Blocker has picked up a petition; his fellow incumbent James A. Butler has not.

Hollow Rock

Mayor (two-year unexpired): Incumbent Ronnie Webb has picked up a petition.

Two alderman positions: James Robison and incumbent Angela Stockdale have picked up petitions. Fellow incumbent T. Richard Goodwin has not yet picked up a petition.

Alderman (two-year unexpired): Incumbent Cathie Pardue has picked up a petition.

Huntingdon

Three council member positions: No one has picked up a petition. Incumbents are John Sanders, Kelly Eubanks and Andrew Maddox.

McKenzie

Mayor: Incumbent Ryan D. Griffin has filed a petition.

Three councilman positions: Incumbent Bobby L. Young has filed a petition, and his fellow incumbents Tom Alexander and Carol Armpriest have picked up petitions. Armand J. Hebert, III, also picked up a petition. 

McLemoresville

Mayor: Incumbent Phil Williams, Austin Prater and Nathan Worrell have picked up petitions.

Five alderman positions: Incumbent Sharron Holland and Robby Alford have filed petitions. Incumbent Mike Presson, incumbent Lana Y. Suite and Kim Wheeler have picked up petitions. Incumbents Don T. Reed and Angie Martin have not picked up petitions.

Trezevant

Three alderman positions: Incumbents Donald M. Barger, Dan Dieringer and Pamela D. Joyner have picked up petitions. Beth Anne Farrell and Liz Yohman have also picked up petitions.

Kirk D. Carter also qualified in March as an independent candidate for the Tennessee House of Representatives District 79 seat. Representative Brock Martin (R-Huntingdon) currently holds this position.
