From the Aug 11, 2026 e-EditionHUNTINGDON - Mrs. Mary Mays, 83, of Huntingdon, died Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services are Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11 AM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home, with Bro. Jimmy Hampton officiating.
The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
Mrs. Mays was born July 26, 1943, in Senath, Missouri, to the late Edward Arnold and Jean Beacham Arnold. She was a longtime school teacher, went on to become Director of Carroll Academy, helped establish the alternative school, and was principal of Tennessee Technology Center. She was a member of the Huntingdon Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, David Mays; two sisters; and a brother.
She is survived by her daughter, Pennye Ann Mays of Huntingdon; one son, Brian David Mays (Evelyn) of The Villages, Florida; and one granddaughter, Mallory Mays.
