McKenzie High Decades Reunion Taking Shape

Planning continues for the McKenzie High School Alumni Association (MHSAA) Decades Reunion that is less than three months away. It will take place on Friday-Saturday, September 19-20, 2025 in conjunction with the MHS football homecoming.
All alumni as well as past faculty and staff of McKenzie High School are invited to attend the events of the weekend, including a golf scramble, memorabilia exhibit, a tailgate party prior to the Homecoming football game against Camden at Rebel Stadium and the annual MHS Homecoming parade, as well as other gatherings and events that are being planned.
Seven milestone class reunions are being planned by respective class members for Saturday of the reunion weekend. The MHSAA will help spread the word for any class reunions.
The Class of 1965 will participate in the MHSAA Decades Reunion and will host their 60th class reunion at Mallard's Restaurant in Huntingdon on Saturday, September 20 at 1 p.m. For more information, call Emily Archer at 731-352-5816 or 731-697-1197.
The 55th reunion of the Class of 1970 is Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at R&R Farms Event Venue, 700 Hill Rd., McKenzie, with a meal catered by Say Cheese. The cost is $20 per person. To RSVP, text or call Joyce Hayes at 731-697-0681 or Charlotte Verner at 731-414-2705.
Members of the Class of 1975 are invited to participate in the Decades Reunion and will gather on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for lunch and socializing at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Class members can obtain more information by emailing mckenziehigh75@gmail.com.
The Class of 1980 celebrates 45 years at the football game and then on Saturday at Liberty Church Event Venue from 5:30-8 p.m. with a meal and social time. The food and venue costs have been covered by an anonymous donation. Donations will be accepted for the class fund. Please send two or three current photos of yourself and your family to be included in reunion activities. A 40-year reunion for the Class of 1985 is Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Farmers Market across from city hall. Food will be provided. Class members are also encouraged to meet at the home of Sandi Stafford Roditis (846 Stonewall St.) to view the Homecoming parade on Friday at 12:30 p.m. For more information on Class of 1985 plans, contact Roditis at 731-415-2927.
For any alumni who wish to join the MHSAA or renew their memberships, dues are $10/annual or $100/lifetime. Payment may be made via Venmo to MHSAA Treasurer Lauren Hickman (Class of 2007) @labhickman, or you may pay by check, mailed to:

Please include your name, year of MHS graduation and best contact information with payment. Alumni may also join or renew memberships during the tailgate event at the homecoming game.
The MHSAA was established in 2023 and has since made financial contributions in support of programs at McKenzie elementary, middle and high schools to help students in need. Annual MHSAA Alumni Scholarships were first awarded in 2024 to help deserving graduates as they further their education.
Everyone is encouraged to mark their calendars, follow the MHS alumni association Facebook page and the McKenzie Banner for updates and help spread the word with their classmates and fellow graduates.

New Portrait of Hal Holbrook Unveiled at The Dixie PAC
HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — The legacy of the late actor Hal Holbrook has been immortalized in a new oil portrait, unveiled Wednesday, August 19, at the Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center. The painting, created by artist and former art professor Lindon Noe, now hangs in the Center, serving as a companion piece to an existing portrait of Holbrook’s wife, the late Dixie Carter-Holbrook.

McKenzie School Board to Install New Members
