McKenzie Police Reports

Attempted Aggravated Burglary — A Park Street resident reported an attempted Aggravated Burglary on December 3.

Officer Jayden Rembert and Sergeant Burson were dispatched to the residence at around 10:50 p.m. to a possible burglary in progress. The officers arrived to find the mother and her child inside the home after reportedly hearing a loud noise and discovering that the back door was open. The husband quickly departed the home to retrieve a long gun from a neighbor.

Officers were waiting for the mother and child to come to the front door when the father entered the home with the weapon. Police requested the father to lay down the weapon, which he did. Officers interviewed the occupants for a description of a possible suspect who entered and exited the home. Nothing was determined to be missing.

Burglary — A Bethel student reported the theft of his PS5 game from his dorm room on December 3.

Officer Billt Burson took a report stating the student stated his game machine was taken from a commons area of his dorm. A video showed a subject entering and leaving through an unlocked door of the dorm room. The suspect was wearing a backpack at the time.

The gaming device is valued at $500.

Criminal Trespass — Maurice Lawrence, 32, McKenzie, was charged with Criminal Trespass on December 4, at 1:32 a.m.

Officer Jayden Rembert was dispatched to Pocket’s Convenience Store where Lawrence was trespassing. He has been banned from the business. Lawrence was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail. Lawrence has a significant history of being arrested for Criminal Trespass.
