McKenzie Rotary Club Announces Community Partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank

The McKenzie Rotary Club is proud to announce that Second Harvest Food Bank has accepted the club as a Community Partner, marking an important milestone in the club’s ongoing commitment to serving the community and addressing hunger.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to fighting hunger and supporting families throughout the area. McKenzie Rotary is especially proud to be the first Rotary Club in Tennessee to achieve Community Partner status with Second Harvest.

“This is a meaningful step forward for our club and our community,” said Club President Armand Hebert. “We invite everyone to join us in working together to help eradicate hunger right here at home. Community involvement can make a real difference in strengthening local food resources and helping those in need.”

This week, Second Harvest notified the McKenzie Rotary Club that it is the recipient of a $540-valued goods grant from the State of Tennessee. The grant includes canned hams, chunked tuna and chicken, pasta sauce, peanut butter, a variety of juices and other nonperishable food items.

In addition, the McKenzie Rotary Club is expected to receive a $7,000 matching grant from Rotary International to support the development of its food pantry project. The grant will be used to make improvements to the space provided by the City of McKenzie, as well as purchase supplies, equipment and food for the pantry.

The McKenzie Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at noon in the Vera Low Student Center on the Bethel University campus. Community members interested in learning more about the club or its food pantry efforts are encouraged to attend.
