Memorial Day Program at Liberty All
From the May 20, 2025 e-EditionThe annual Memorial Day Program at Liberty All Church, 2415 Old Stage Road, Huntingdon, is 10:45 a.m., Sunday, May 25.
Bob Newman is the guest speaker. Bob joined the US Marine Corps in 1966. After boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, he served aboard the USS America with the Marine Detachment, Camp Lejeune North Carolina with the military police, and South Vietnam with the Third Marine Division. After serving in the Marine Corps, Bob graduated from Belmont University with a B.S. in Business Administration. In 1976, he moved to Huntingdon, where he attended First Baptist Church for 38 years. During that time, he served as a deacon and was blessed to serve as a teacher of a men’s Sunday School class. In 2011, Bob retired from Unimin Corporation after working 37 years in the mining industry. In 2014, he married Sylvia Amejko and moved to Jackson. He is a member of Englewood Baptist Church, the Marine Corps League, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the Madison County Republican Party. His wife, Sylvia succumbed to cancer in 2023. He continues to live in Jackson.
Veterans in attendance will be recognized, then the names of the 77 veterans buried in Liberty All Cemetery will be read. The congregation will go outside and flags will be placed on each of the 77 graves.
The program will be concluded by the playing of “Taps.”
