From the Apr 15, 2025 e-EditionGLEASON—Funeral services for Raymond (Ray) G. Champion will be Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. at New Life Church, Gleason. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. The Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
Mr Champion, 78, was a member of New Life Church and a retired gas tanker driver for Stewart Oil Co. He was born in Henry, Tenn, on October 12, 1946, to William G. and Ruth Dell Dunn Champion.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Collins Champion, four daughters, Darlene Tracy of East Peoria, Illinois, Barb (Mark) Brooks of Springville, Tenn., Leanette (Glen) Petty of Junction City, Kansas and Alicia (Dusty) Legens of Gleason, three sons, Brent (Carla) Champion of Dresden, Glen (Sandy) Collins of Dyer and Stacy (Tammy) Collins of Gleason, three sisters Aggie Robbins of Bloomington, Illinois, Wanda (Don) Lowe of McKenzie and Diane Coleman of Gleason, a brother Ed (Deb) Champion of Clinton, Illinois., eighteen grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia Champion a great grandson and great granddaughter Daniel and Tara Aldridge and a sister Sue Pinkley.
