Rebels Edge Collinwood in Opener, 3-1

McKENZIE (May 8) — The McKenzie High School Rebels opened the Region 6A Baseball Tournament with a 3-1 win over the Collinwood Trojans Friday night.
All of the runs came in the first inning, with Collinwood striking first in the top half and McKenzie jumping ahead in the home half.
Rebel Xander Johnsey was 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. Hudson Garrett was 1-for-2 with a double. Cooper Davidson was 1-for-3. Fletcher Holt was 0-for-0 with two walks. Cole Brown was 0-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.
Trojan Tate Linville was 1-for-3. Gentry Hart was 0-for-1 with two walks and a run scored. Luke Holt was 0-for-3 with an RBI.
Fletcher Holt earned the complete-game, one-hit win for McKenzie, allowing one unearned run while walking two and striking out four.
Patch Craig took the complete-game loss for Collinwood, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits while walking three and striking out two.
