Rebels Fall to Coalfield for First Loss

LEBANON (May 22) — The McKenzie Rebels took a tough loss to start the second day of the TSSAA Class 1A Baseball State Championship, falling to Coalfield 10-0 in five innings at Wilson Central High School.
The loss moved McKenzie to the lower bracket.
Coalfield scored a run in the top of the first, two in the third, four in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Craegen Travis had the lone hit for the Rebels, a double.
Fletcher Holt got the start for McKenzie, allowing one earned run on four hits and a walk in an inning and two-thirds. Cole Brown pitched two and a third innings of relief, allowing eight earned runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking three. Ripken Thompson pitched the final frame, allowing one earned run on one hit while striking out two and walking two.
