District 12A Baseball Tournament
Rebels, Rockets Win on Friday

BRUCETON (May 1) — The District 12A Baseball Tournament, hosted by Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School, continued Friday with two contests. First, the Clarksburg Rockets defeated the Houston County Irish, 5-1, in an elimination game. Then, the McKenzie Rebels edged the host Tigers, 3-2, to secure a spot in the championship.
Clarksburg Rockets 5, Houston County Irish 1
Houston County struck first with their lone run in the top of the first. Clarksburg immediately took the lead with a pair in the home half, then added three in the second.
Rocket Reagan Halter was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Trae Cobb was 1-for-2 with a walk, two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Walker Aston was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Greysen Jones was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Levi Davis was 1-for-3. Samuel Wallace and Maddox Robbins were each 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored.
Houston County’s Samuel Ferrell was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base. Brody Harris was 1-for-2 with a stolen base. Noah Herron was 1-for-3. Ryder Forrester was 1-for-4.
Taylor Lawler earned the win for Clarksburg, allowing one earned run on five hits while walking none and striking out four in six innings. Greysen Jones pitched the final frame, allowing no runs, hits or walks with one strikeout.
Samuel Ferrell took the complete-game loss for the Irish, allowing five earned runs on six hits while walking three and striking out five.
McKenzie Rebels 3, Central Tigers 2
McKenzie scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the third, then added a run in each of the next two frames. Central rallied for a pair in the top of the sixth.
Rebel Xander Johnsey was 1-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored. Hudson Garrett was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Aiden Legens was 2-for-3. Fletcher Holt was 1-for-3. Avery Brown was 0-for-2 with a walk.
Tiger Braxton Howard was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Parker Finley was 1-for-2 with a walk. Tanner Walters was 1-for-4 with a stolen base. Brayden Maness was 0-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base. Drake Hollingsworth was 0-for-3 with an RBI.
Fletcher Holt earned the complete-game win for McKenzie, allowing two unearned runs on three hits while walking three and striking out nine.
Drake Hollingsworth took the complete-game loss for Central, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits while walking one and striking out two.
