From the Dec 10, 2024 e-EditionPARIS - Reverend Arthur L. Lodge, 70, of Paris, TN, died Sunday, December 9, 2024, at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, Tenn.
Arthur retired from the Presbyterian Church after serving as pastor for 30 years. He served at churches in Paris, Huntingdon, and Trenton. He recently attended Bridge of Hope in Paris.
Arthur was a highly active community member, having served in many leadership roles in various civic groups. He also served as vice president of Marsh Wheeling Stogies Cigar Company.
He was born August 15, 1954, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, to the late Herbert Barricklow Lodge, and the late Irma Louise Gillingham Lodge.
Arthur married Mary Elizabeth Michener Lodge on October 16, 1976, and she survives of Paris.
Along with his wife of 48 years, he is also survived by his children, Carrie (Christopher) Lodge Sage of Covington, Tenn., and Jonathan David (Chelsea) Lodge of Paris; a sister, Linda Long of North Canton, Ohio; a brother, Dr. John Lodge of Batesville, Arkansas; five grandchildren, John Christopher Sage, Alessandra Claire Sage, Cabot Barricklow Lodge, Fern Elizabeth Lodge, and Rosalie Louise Lodge; five nieces and nephews, Sarah (David) Shetron, Dr. Rachel (Clark) Baker, Rebekah (Earl) Borah, Elisabeth Long, and Dr. Joshua Long; and eight great nieces and nephews, Lydia, Charlotte, Stephanie, and Genevieve Borah, Meredith, John, and Michael Shetron, and Grace and Arch Baker.
Along with his parents, Arthur was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Mary Emma Lodge, and a brother-in-law, Dr. Stephen Long.
Ridgeway Funeral Home 201 Dunlap St./ P.O. Box 788, Paris, TN 38242, will be handling the arrangements. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at noon at Bridge of Hope, 1575 Hwy 641 S, Paris, TN 38242. Eric Kelleher and Dr. Joshua Long will officiate.
Dr. John Lodge, Clark Baker, Dr. Christopher Sage, Dr. Joshua Long, Jonathan Lodge, Cabot Lodge, and John Christopher Sage will be pallbearers.
Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
A time to be celebrate Arthur’s life is Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 4 until 7 pm at Paris Station, 304 W. Washington St., Paris, TN 38242.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to The Shepherd’s Table of First Presbyterian Church Paris 105 S. Market St. Paris, TN 38242, The Shepherd’s Table of First Presbyterian Church in Huntingdon P.O Box 651, Huntingdon, TN 38344, which was started by Arthur, or to Tomorrow’s Hope 211 North Brewer St., Paris, TN 38242.
