From the Jul 29, 2025 e-EditionJACKSON, TENN. — Mr. Roy Eugene Shackelford, 81, of Jackson, Tennessee, died Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Funeral services are Monday, July 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Dr. Tim Atkins. Interment will follow in New Bethel Cemetery in Cedar Grove.
The family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of service.
Mr. Shackelford was born December 2, 1943, in Cedar Grove, to the late Earnest Shackelford and Ruby Woodard Shackelford. He worked in industrial maintenance for Quaker Oats. He had a passion for racing and competed as a drag racer himself. He found joy in playing and singing country music and was drawn to anything with an engine. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Shackelford.
He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Burgess (Cameron) of Nashville, a son, Steven Shackelford (Lucretia) of Jackson, two brothers, Harold Shackelford (Emily) of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and Glynn Shackelford (Kay) of Bradford. He also leaves three grandchildren, Kaley Shackelford, Fenton Burgess and August Burgess.
