Carroll County Grand Jury Indicts Montgomery Co. School Bus Driver in March Fatal Bus Crash

HUNTINGDON (September 14) — The Carroll County Grand Jury indicted Sabrina Ducksworth for Failure to Exercise Due Care, and Driving on Roadway Laned For Traffic.

According to the indictment, Ducksworth crossed the center line into the oncoming lane of traffic resulting in the death of her passenger. The accident occurred on March 27, 2026 on Highway 70 in Carroll County.

The Grand Jury did not indict her on Vehicular Homicide.

The bus was transporting 25 students and five adults from Kenwood Middle School to a field trip in Jackson, Tenn., when the crash occurred.

Two students were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

THP’s preliminary report, released Monday, March 30, confirmed the students were en route to the Toyota Hub City Grand Prix Greenpower USA race in Jackson, Tenn., to race an electric car they had built.

THP Major Travis Plotzer stated that it did not appear the TDOT truck had any “contributing factors” to the crash.

Baptist Priority Ambulance requested nine ambulance helicopters to respond to the scene. Of those, seven were used to transport patients to the following hospitals: Baptist Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Lebonheur Children’s Hospital, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Vanderbilt University Hospital and Skyline Medical Center.
